迎接2009年5月“中美两国法律信息与法律图书馆大会(北京)”召开

2009年5月美国法律图书馆协会与中国政法大学法律信息中心将在中国北京合作召开一届高规格的中美双方法律信息与法律图书馆馆员合作与发展的学术交流大会,届时将有众多美方法律图书馆专家组团来京参会交流。有关会议的详细报道请参考美国法律图书馆协会网址。(见新闻稿联系网址)希望中国法律图书馆界能珍惜这次交流的机会,扩大自己在学界的影响;同时也希望国内法律信息领域和法律图书馆领域的从业者与相关学者关注此次活动,积极撰写有关论文向未来的大会提交。我们期待这次大会将是一次成功的大会,并相信这次大会将极大地促进中国法律信息和法律图书馆事业的发展,将成为日后中美法律图书馆员之间合作的一个里程碑。

    PRESS RELEASE

    We are pleased to announce that the China - United States Conference on Legal Information and Law Libraries will be held for May 27-30, 2009 in Beijing, China at the Beijing Friendship Hotel. This conference, initially proposed by a group of members of the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL), is officially co-sponsored by the State Commission on Legal Education of the Ministry of Education, China. AALL is the first American co-sponsor of the conference. Other American and international organizations may join the co-sponsorship soon.
    
    The Conference will provide an opportunity for law librarians and legal information professionals from both countries to share experiences and exchange views in regard to legal information development and law library management. American librarians attending the Conference can share their knowledge and expertise with their Chinese colleagues, including in the area of organizing and sustaining a vibrant, professional association. Additionally, American librarians will be able to meet and connect with Chinese library and information professionals, legal publishers, and government officials responsible for dissemination of legal information. It is expected that the networking and discussions offered by the Conference will serve as catalyst for long-term collaborations between Sino-U.S law libraries and legal information professionals.
    
    CONFERENCE GOALS
    
    The Conference is intended to promote the Sino-U.S. exchanges and cooperation in the area of legal information and law libraries. The goals to be achieved include: to offer an overview of the Chinese and American law-making processes, information resources, and the legal research tools in both countries; to introduce the Chinese law librarians and information policy makers the role of American law libraries, law librarians and professional organizations; to present the state of online library systems; and to promote the opportunities for Chinese and American law libraries and law librarians to develop exchange and cooperative in education, resource sharing, and other areas of mutual interest.
    
    CONFERENCE OUTCOMES
    The Conference seeks to achieve specific outcomes, which include: Chinese attendees will learn the American legal information system and its relationship with the rule of law; American attendees will learn the great progress that China has made in modernizing its legal system and making legal information available to the public and the world in recent years; American participants will share their knowledge and expertise with the Chinese colleagues; American librarians and educators will assist the Chinese law library profession to develop educational programs to train law library personnel; American colleagues will provide advice and consultation in organizing law library professional associations in China; Chinese and American colleagues may develop exchange and cooperative programs, and further efforts in matching Chinese and American law libraries and/or librarians of common interest will be made.
    
    CONFERENCE PROGRAM
